Filsafat
God created humans with a rational and inquiring mind. He blessed them with the ability to count, tell time and make change. In Mathematics we will explore and develop this God given gift systematically. As the Bible says “precept upon precept, line upon line …” (Isaiah 28:10), students will systematically build up their knowledge of Mathematics. As they learn the different disciplines of Mathematics students will recognize the logic and order God imbued in the world and by implication that God is a god of logic and order. They will develop a greater understanding and appreciation of God through their study of mathematics.

Course Objectives
Students will recognize that our ability to learn about our world rests on the fact that we are created by a rational Creator; they will also see that as believers it is important to think logically and reason well. They will also reflect on ways to use math to serve others, not just to benefit themselves (ESLR: RC). Students will demonstrate the ability to perform mathematical functions defined in the course content (ESLR: ET). The emphasis will be put on problem solving of real-life situations, independent computational skill, and the use of technology such as scientific calculator and its function as an aid for more accurate calculations, not to replace the building of logic and understanding of key concepts (ESLR: SCW, NLL).  Throughout the course, students are given opportunities to exercise communication skills – in talking, listening, writing, representing, modeling, and reading (ESLR: DC).
