Philosophy Statement
Science for the Christian is the study of God’s creation. The exploration of the creation reveals a direct appreciation of the creative work of God. What can be known of God we know through the creation, the word and the Holy Spirit. (For since the creation of the world God’s invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature—have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that men are without excuse – Romans 1:20), but the fallen nature of man and his frequent rebellion to acknowledge a Creator hinder this. Students will continually be called on to see the divine order of creation and able to manage the created world according to what God has planned in the beginning.

Biblical Concepts for Science in General

  • The fact that God is Creator is taught throughout Scripture.
  • Man is distinct from animals, though similarities can be found in body structures.
  • Man is more than an intricate physical being; he has a soul and spirit and is made in God’s image.
  • The condition of present-day earth is in part, a result of man’s sin.
  • Animals are governed by instincts, a fact which distinguishes them from man.
  • God controls every part of the natural world – His creation – the world we study in science
  • God intended the creation for His own purpose and pleasure.
  • All of creation is meant to praise God and bring glory to Him.
  • God has provided an orderly world.

Course Objective
Students will investigate steps of the scientific process (NLL), will review literature, demonstrate through experimentation, and make an oral and visual representation of a teacher approved science topic (DC, ET, and NLL), demonstrate understanding of life processes of all living things (ET), and discuss and debate basic theories of the origins of man (SCW, RUC), and appraise the intricate workings of the human body (RUC, NLL).

50 minutes per day, 5 days a week
