5th Grade – Bible

Philosophy
The Bible is the word of God, the ultimate authority for Truth. God is a relational God and has chosen to reveal Himself through the revelation of Scripture. Learning the Bible will bring students closer to God and have relationship with Him. Spiritual growth is fostered through memorization of Bible verses and a daily prayer and devotional life is encouraged.

Course Objectives
Students will have a survey or overview of the Old Testament(ET) with an in-depth study of the lives of various Bible characters presented in chronological order. They will also study the choices (whether good or bad) made by these characters which serve as examples for students as they make their own choices in life.(NLL) Students will also memorize Bible verses that correspond to each lesson.(ROC) The students prepare and present up to 6 chapels a year.(DC)Students will also over the year do a project on missions and missionaries to different countries that they will present to the class.(SCW)

50 minutes per day, 4 days a week and attending weekly chapel

Evaluation
The assessment for the course will be through several different forms:

  1. Unit evaluations
  2. Class participation
  3. Bible memory work
  4. Chapel presentation involvment
  5. Questions in the work book relating to each gospel
